Personal Creative Destruction: The Best from The Worst
The term creative destruction is very common in economics and business. But if we
look at the definition it is useful in our personal lives as part of our individual
development strategies and efforts.
Creative destruction basically refers to the transformation of traditional business
and economic models into new and improved ones.
The relevance of creative destruction is focused on looking at new ways to do
things. It is about having a mindset of innovation and growth, which helps the
individual in the personal or professional improvements. The value of the creative-
destruction concept is related to the development of a human being’s ability to
create new things, use new resources, or reinvent themselves.
There are two main points of creative destruction that can be adapted to our
personal lives:
− Innovation
− Reengineering
The personal innovation requires a constant learning mindset. That constant
learning helps to create new paradigms, new life views, or new habits that bring
improvements.
One example could be reading twenty minutes a day, which would result in reading
more than fifteen books a year, on average.
This constant learning mindset requires the use of what I call executable
knowledge: learning that helps us to make better decisions, develop better
approaches, and face life in a better way.
The personal re-engineering is the analysis and reallocation of your resources to
create change and support the personal innovation.
The reengineering process is also associated with the ability to reinvent ourselves
and transform a negative event into an opportunity.
The overall reinvention process is intended to make us take the best of the worst,
which makes a difference between destruction and creative destruction.
